Hardware and Glazing
Hardware

the VJ profile for a monolithic Modern Mediterranean entry
Handmade Timber Handles (BTDW)
Where doors become sculptural objects. Our custom timber handles are handmade in-house for perfect scale, tactility and architectural proportion. Each handle is crafted to suit the timber species, finish and detailing of the joinery — achieving a level of cohesion that off-the-shelf hardware can’t deliver. It’s the most bespoke way to finish timber joinery.
Many clients opt for BTDW timber handles on their entry doors. Timber offers warmth, tactility and a strong sense of architectural presence — particularly at the entry, where the first point of contact sets the tone for the home.
When the handle becomes part of the door, the whole entry reads as architecture.

Custom timber entry handle by BTDW paired with an architectural timber door, adding warmth and tactility against concrete and minimalist interiors.

For entry doors, integrated timber handles offer a quieter and more architectural statement — projecting confidence without ornament.
Architectural Metal Hardware
Timber expresses warmth and materiality; metal delivers performance and security. We specify architectural-grade hardware to ensure both elements feel resolved and intentional. We specify only architectural-grade components, never stock-standard, to ensure longevity, correct operation and finish consistency in Queensland conditions.
We source from leading Australian suppliers such as Zanda, Iver, TradCo and ABI Interiors, giving clients access to some of the best ranges on the market. From mortice locks and flush bolts to concealed hinges, smooth-tracking systems and architectural handles, every component is selected for performance, durability and design integrity.
Clients may select hardware directly from trusted brands, nominate a supplier they already love, or request a BTDW recommendation. Finishes include stainless steel, matte black, polished chrome, brass and gold — or we’ll source to suit your palette.
We work with leading architectural hardware suppliers and can source to specification. Clients may select their own hardware or request recommendations from BTDW.
Glass & Glazing Options
Glass changes how a home feels — quieter, cooler, lighter, more private — without altering footprint. When combined with timber and correct hardware, glazing becomes a performance system.
Performance Glass
Options include:
- Low-E coatings (thermal control)
- IGUs (insulation + condensation management)
- Toned/Tinted (glare + solar heat)
Correctly modelled glazing can provide up to ~42%
improvement in cooling efficiency* while maintaining natural
light — ideal for Queensland design.

In hot-humid climates like Brisbane and the Gold Coast, the right glass makes a measurable difference to comfort and cooling loads. We work with architects and assessors to select glazing that supports both performance targets and passive cooling strategies.

System Thinking
At BTDW, glass, timber + hardware are specified as a single system for long-term performance in the Queensland climate.
Acoustic
Acoustic laminated or IGU options reduce
aircraft / road / neighbourhood noise for urban/coastal
corridors and public buildings.
Decorative & Feature
Privacy + texture without sacrificing daylight:
- Reeded/Fluted
- Arctic/Kosciuszko
- Tinted/Patterned variants
Suitable for Modern Mediterranean, Coastal/Hamptons,
Contemporary and Queenslander projects.
Louvres
We specify Breezway louvres for engineered passive
ventilation and weather performance.
